1. Information We Collect

Account Information

When you sign up, we collect your email address through our payment provider (Polar). We use this to authenticate you, send transactional emails, and manage your subscription.

Instagram Data

When you send Reels to our Instagram DM bot, we receive your Instagram sender ID and the Reel URL. We do not access your Instagram account, followers, or any data beyond the messages you send directly to our bot.

Content You Save

For each Reel you save, we process and store:

• The video file (stored in Cloudflare R2)
• A generated transcript of the audio
• AI-generated metadata (content categories, key points)
• Thumbnail images and video frames
• Search embeddings (numerical representations for search)

Usage Data

We collect basic usage data such as page views and feature usage to improve the Service. We do not use third-party analytics trackers.

2. How We Use Your Information

• Provide the Service: Process, store, and make your saved Reels searchable
• Authentication: Verify your identity and manage your session
• Transactional emails: Send login links, subscription confirmations, and processing notifications
• Service improvement: Understand how the Service is used to make it better

We do not sell your personal information. We do not use your saved content to train AI models.

3. Data Storage & Security

Your data is stored across the following services:

• PostgreSQL (Neon): Account data, reel metadata, transcripts, and embeddings
• Cloudflare R2: Video files, thumbnails, and frame images
• Vercel KV: Temporary queue data for incoming Reels from Instagram

All data is encrypted in transit (TLS) and at rest. Access to your content is restricted to your authenticated account only. We use HMAC-SHA256 signed tokens for authentication and do not store passwords.

4. Data Sharing

We share your data only with the service providers necessary to operate ReelsVault:

• Polar: Payment processing and subscription management
• Resend: Transactional email delivery
• Groq: Audio transcription (your audio is processed but not retained by Groq)
• Cloudflare: Video and image storage (R2)
• Neon: Database hosting
• Vercel: Web application hosting
• Railway: API server hosting

We do not share your data with advertisers, data brokers, or any other third parties.

5. Desktop Application

The ReelsVault desktop app stores your data locally on your device in a SQLite database. When sync is enabled, data is synchronized between your local database and our cloud servers. You can disable sync at any time to keep your data entirely local.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you cancel your subscription, your saved Reels remain stored but you cannot save new ones. If you delete your account, all your data (including videos, transcripts, and metadata) will be permanently deleted within 30 days.

7. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data we have about you through the dashboard
• Export: Download your saved Reels and transcripts
• Delete: Request deletion of your account and all associated data
• Unsubscribe: Opt out of non-essential emails via the link in any email

8. Cookies

We use a single essential cookie (polar_token) to maintain your login session. This cookie is httpOnly and secure. We do not use tracking cookies or third-party cookie-based analytics.

9. Children's Privacy

ReelsVault is not intended for users under 18. We do not knowingly collect information from children.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes via email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance.
